LACC IT Overview

Welcome to LACC!   This page will give you an overview of the basic IT tools and information you will need to start working.

If you drive to the college, you need to get a Parking permit from the Physical Plant office (Administration building 218 or 317D).   You will need the following information: Employee number, your vehicle(s) license number and make/model/year/color.   Campus police will ticket vehicles without a Parking permit.

  • Note:  You can get a one-day parking permit at the Sheriff office located on Heliotrope Dr.
  • Note:  While you are at the Physical Plant office, ask about carpooling and other greener modes of transportation.
  • Note:  If you do not know your employee number, go to the Personnel Office at the Administration building 213.   While you are there, ask for your Class code; you will need it to fill out your Request for Employee Network/Email Account form.

To open the parking gate, you need your Employee ID card.   Get your Employee ID card at the Cub Card office (Administration building 107).   You will need your Parking Permit form from the Physical Plant office.   Even if you do not need a parking permit, you still need a Parking Permit form to get an Employee ID card.

  • Note:  At the gate, there is an intercom connected to the Sheriff's office.   If needed, they will be able to open the gate after you have identified yourself.

At your office, you need a Network account to be able to use the employee campus computers.   To request a network, email and voicemail account, you need the Request for Employee Network/Email Account form.

Faculty (certified employees) also have an Academic Network account to log into some of the lab computers.

Most of the staff (classified employees) only need a Network account.   Some staff such as lab assistants need an Academic Network account to use the lab computers.

Faculty also have a DEC account to get class rosters and assign grades.

Some staff also have a DEC account to accomplish their functions.

All employees, faculty and staff, have an LACCD Portal account to access the Employee Self-Service system (ESS).   ESS allows you to see and manage some of your personal information such as your address for paycheck mailing and insurance information among others.   To authorized users, the LACCD Portal also gives access to the Personnel Change Request system (PCR) and Business Warehouse (BW).

  • Note:  DEC, Network and Academic Network accounts are different accounts even though their usernames might look the same.   Because they are different accounts, their passwords will be different unless you change them individually to be the same.  Be aware that the LACCD Portal username looks completely different than your other usernames.

If you have any technical inquiry or problem, contact IT Help Desk. You can find its email and extension number on the IT Help Page main page.  If you need training or information about any of the LACC/LACCD systems, check on the IT Help Page for information.  If the information is not there, contact the Staff and Organizational Development office at extension 2378.

Let's talk about your employee number.

  • Note:  The employee numbers are assigned by the LACCD District Office and not by individual campuses.
  • Note:  Each employee receives an unique employee number.
  • Note:  Employee numbers and assignment numbers are different things.
  • Note:  If you do not know your employee number, go to the Personnel Office at the Administration building 213.   While you are there, ask for your Class code; you will needed to fill out your Request for Employee Network/Email Account form

Before the Human Resources transition to SAP, Employee numbers had 6 digits. Now all the employee numbers have 8 digits.

Two leading zeros were added to the old 6 digit numbers to be converted to 8 digits.
    e.i. 779565 --> 00779565

The Employee numbers created after the transition to SAP are 8 digits and start with 01.
    e.i.                  01455124

When talking, most people ignore the leading zeros.
8-digit number     ---     People say
00779565           ---     6 digits:   779565
01455124           ---     7 digits: 1455124

If you are asked to enter your Employee number, make sure to use the number zero and not the letter "o".
